The Sooner State is home to one of the best medical schools in the country, Oklahoma University. It also houses one of the few Cancer Research Centers of America, located in the heart of Tulsa. Oklahoma Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

There are several medical assistant schools in Oklahoma, and there are even more online. Whether you choose to go to school on campus or on your computer at home, try to look for schools that are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). These are the organizations that assess medical assisting degree programs and determine if they are valuable or not. Go to a school they approve of, and you can bet that you will be ready for the workforce.

After you get out of school, you can increase your chances of finding a job by becoming a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. To do this, you must pass an exam administered by the National Healthcare Association, the American Association of Medical Assistants, or a similar organization in your area. You do not have to be certified to get a job, but you will get paid more if you have a certification behind you. Since it only takes one to two years to complete a medical assisting associate’s degree program, you should have time to take a test and improve your future immensely.
