Medical Assistant Schools in New York

Becoming a medical assistant in New York is not as hard as it may seem. All it takes is a year or two of schooling and a commitment to the healthcare field. If you think you have that to give, one of the medical assistant schools in New York is waiting to have you on board. Whether you attend school in NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, or directly on the internet, you are sure to find a program that can help you start a future.

New York Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

You can earn an associate of medical assisting online or on campus, depending on how you like to learn. Both options will lead to the same career training, but one is available through your home instead of a local university. Try to attend a school that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Your employer will be more confident in your education at that point.

Earning a degree may not be enough to secure some of the higher paying medical assistant jobs in New York. If you want to work for the best of the best, you need to prove to them that you can handle the job they have for you. Take a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants before you start applying for jobs. This will be all the proof you need to work just about anywhere. You can learn more about that exam by contacting the New York State Society of Medical Assistants, either on their website or Facebook page.
