Arkansas Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

Many hospitals, doctor’s offices, and clinics will only hire medical assistants who have attended an accredited tech school or college. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools are the two biggest accreditation boards for this line of work. If you can find an Arkansas medical assistant school with an accreditation from one of them, you will easily be able to gain employment after you graduate.

Most medical assistant schools offer an associate of science in medical assisting, but there are other names for the degree that result in the training. To improve your chances of getting a job after school, consider taking the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam from the American Association of Medical Assistants. This is not a requirement for work, but it will give you a must better chance at getting the job – especially if you want to work in a big-name hospital or doctor’s office.

You can learn more about the certification exam by contacting the Arkansas chapter of the AAMA.
