Colorado Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

It is possible to become a medical assistant with just a high school diploma, but you’ll have a hard time finding work without some kind of formal training. Most hospitals and clinics do not want to take the time to train their workers when they can easily go to a technical college or university to get that training. Ideally, you need to look for a school accredited by the CAAHEP or the ABHES if you want to have a good shot at employment in the future.

Many employers will look for some sort of certification when they go to hire you. That means you will need to complete a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam from either the National Healthcare Association or the American Association of Medical Assistants. You may be able to take this through your school if they have a certification program for you.

You can reach out on the Colorado AAMA Society Facebook page to find out more information about the certification exam.
