Medical Assistant Schools in Minnesota

Minnesota has a scattered population, which may imply that the demand for medical workers here would be low. To the contrary, Minnesota has a very strong need for medical assistants, and that need is expected to grow in the future. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 31% increase in medical assistant jobs between 2010 and 2020, and MN is showing signs of following that trend. With the help of medical assistant schools in Minnesota, you could soon have the training you need for a lucrative and secure line of work.

Minnesota Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

There are several medical assistant schools in Minnesota, especially if you start looking into the ones available online. When you start weeding through your options, consider the accreditation that each school has. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) are the two boards that most employers trust, so you may want to find a school that has the support of one of those organizations. You can be confident in your education after that.

The National Healthcare Association or the American Association of Medical Assistants offer Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exams that you can take to improve your chances of finding work after you graduate. Having an associate of science in medical assisting will get you a job, but certification will increase your potential pay considerably. You may also consider going back to school if your ultimate goal is to become a nurse.

If you would like to learn about the exam you will be taking, contact the Minnesota State Society of Medical Assistants.
