Massachusetts Medical Assistant Schools at a Glance

Some employers will accept career training from any technical college or university, but others require their workers to attend accredited universities. If you want to be on the safe side, make sure your school of choice is accredited by the CAAHEP or the ABHES. Most associate’s degrees in medical assisting take two to four semesters to complete, depending on how extensive they are. You may be able to complete your schooling in as little as 9 months with the right perseverance.

Once you have your degree, you can improve your chances of getting a job by taking a Certified Medical Administrative Assistant exam from the American Association of Medical Assistants. The National Healthcare Association offers a similar exam that may also assist your career pursuits. Being a CMAA could lead to better job offers and higher pay, and completing your exam takes very little effort. As long as you focus in school, you can pass your test with ease.
